For the final concert of the 2017 Pontiac Enchanté season, Carson Becke and Suren Barry present a program of music for two pianos that juxtaposes Ravel’s apocalyptic tribute to a vanished era (La Valse) and Poulenc’s powerful Sonata for two pianos with Weber’s elegant ‘Invitation to the Dance’, written in 1819, and two evocations of childhood (Ravel’s ‘Mother Goose’ and Faure’s ‘Dolly’).

Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826), arranged by Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938)
Contrapuntal Paraphrase on 'Invitation to the Dance’

Maurice Ravel (1875-1937)
‘Mother Goose’ Suite for piano duet
La Valse

Gabriel Faure (1845-1924)
Dolly Suite for piano duet, op. 56

Francis Poulenc (1899-1963)
Sonata for two pianos, FP 156
